Focaccia Bread

I became a proud owner of a bread machine a few months back at a great bargain during a visit to a local church flea market, I only paid a $1.00 for it, the best $1.00 I ever spent. I am just in love with this bread machine and use it a couple times a week. One of the favorites of my family is a Focaccia Bread Recipe that I found. This bread is baked in the oven but the dough is made in the bread machine, which really simplifies making bread dough. I am an old time baker and made bread spending hours waiting for the dough to rise, kneading, rising and kneading. I don’t know how I managed all these years with out a bread machine.

Here is the recipe, hope you enjoy it as much as we do, there is one step to the recipe that I don’t do, I don’t add the Italian Seasonsing to the recipe, we actually enjoy any seasonings baked on top the  bread. I usually add to the top sea salt, black pepper, oregano, and parmasean cheese. But you can add anything you would like.

Focaccia Bread

1 cup water, warm

3 tablespoons olive oil

3 cups of bread flour

2 teaspoons salt

5 teaspoons italian seasoning (optional)

2 teaspoons active dry yeast

Place all of the ingredients into the pan of your bread machine, Program for Dough or Manual and press start.

At the end of the cycle remove the dough from the machine and punch it down. Roll it out to form a rectangle and transfer it to a cookie sheet. Pat the dough into the pan.  Make indentations int the dough with your fingertips, about an inch apart, and drizzle with olive olive. Top your Focaccia Bread with salt, pepper, oregano and Parmesan Cheese.

Allow the focaccia to rise for 30 minutes to an hour, bake in a preheated 450 degree oven for 15 to 20 minutes or until light brown.

As you can see from my picture, I make my bread round on aluminum foil on my wooden bread board my hubby made for me, just my preference. This recipe makes a nice large loave of  bread, so I actually cut the dough in half and bake 2 loaves.

Hope you enjoy this recipe!
