This was posted on a wonderful forum I belong to Ecommerce Seller’s Motivators and wanted to share it with everyone. This is a wonderful way for you to be able to plant a tree in your state Park.  After you have planted your tree, be sure to pass this on to your friends and family.

Odwalla is re-running its successful Plant a Tree promotion for 2009, and has DOUBLED the funding they will put towards the trees from $50,000 in 2008 to $100,000 in 2009. Only 11 State Park systems will be eligible for the funding, based on the states that participate in the Park Visitor Welcome Kit program.

How it works:
Each time someone goes to www.parkvisitor.com/odwalla and chooses (your state here) , $1 will be added to your state’s tree fund. Each computer will only be allowed to participate once. The program will remain open until all funds are used, or until Dec. 31, 2009. The state with the most clicks gets the most dollars! To see how you are doing, click on the Number of Trees Planted tab.

Please go on line and click for <your state here> Park Trees. Feel free to pass this info on to your friends and family and ask them to click too! It only takes a moment. One state park that participated last year received over $20,000.

My two youngest grandchildren just celebrated their birthdays in May and June. Caleb turned 2 and Bailey had her first birthday. Generally I would have bought them toys or clothes, but no this year. In my old age I am beginning to be a little more nostalgic and wanted to give them something that could be kept as a heirloom and be passed down to their children one day.
So my quest for the perfect gift began. It of course had to be hand painted after all thats what grandma does and I wanted grandpa to be involved so it had to be wooden, he’s a cabinet maker so that makes sense. I also wanted it to be something they would use, so I decided on wooden chairs for their room. Someplace they could sit and read, color or whatever.

Flamingo Flower Pot Chair

I already had a pattern for the wooden flower pot chair that I make, this makes a great child’s chair except for the hole for the flower pot. I discussed this with my husband and he said the chair was to straight and would not be comfortable, so we decided on Adirondack chairs for them, they would not only be comfortable, but the kids would grow into them and use them for several years.

grandkids chairs
So my husband constructed the chairs and I got to work on painting them. Baileys of course had to be girly girl so I went with a butterfly theme and Caleb loves the outdoors so why not a fishing theme.

Calebs Chair

Well the chairs were a hit with the grandkids. Caleb actually pushed his little chair that goes to his desk to the side and used his new chair all day, Bailey sat in hers and watched TV, so now I will have to come up with something equally as special next year for their birthday’s.

Bailey's ChairOh and of course  the backs of the chairs are painted and also included are their names and love from their Grandma and Grandpa.

I had the opportunity this past week to paint a mailbox completely different from my usual design.  Not that this was the first unique design, I have had many many requests over the years, here is one I did a few months ago

Musical Instruments This was a fun design, the person who requested it held concerts at their house and also has a butterfly garden when you walked up to her front door, so I tied the whole theme together for her.

The latest one I just did was for a local customer, she was looking for a design that would have mountains and a waterfall. So this is what I came up with

Mountain Scene with WaterfallThis was something really different for me, I never painted mountains before and I have painted water scenes, but this was my first waterfall. I really enjoyed painting this, I spent time just dreaming up the scene in my mind and then hoping it would appear the same on the mailbox. Needless to say I was very happy with it and of course I know what I will change if and when I paint the same scene again. My customer was thrilled and was giving this to her son and his new bride as a wedding gift. I hope they enjoy the mailbox as much as I enjoyed painting it.

Thanks for stopping by and be sure to check out my site, Donna’s Mailboxes and More
